Dennis has been out of the wonder bar for two years now. We were
basically hired as consultants to get the wonder bar up and running with
it's new liquor license two summers ago. I stayed on until Jan 2004 and
helped open the Xotica Go Go Bar and left there in the late spring when
it became a gay dance club called the circuit. Since then I have been
doing property development in asbury and I am now opening the baronet
theater and the fast lane.
No mo' wonder bar for me, which is really okay.
The Red Bank Jazz and Blues festival is a magnificent accomplishment for
all who are involved in it. I don't know why, but Friday was my 1sty
venture there and I was so impressed with every detail of it's
operation! Somehow, the organizers have kept the local talent at the
forefront, while mixing in n national acts. The vendors, the facilities,
the stages and the programming are excellent. As a for instance, my 2
sons joined a group of kids, 17 and under on a third stage where they
performed for a nice crowd. It was intimate and gave kids a chance to be
part of something that they should and will cherish. When we were young,
it was impossible to find a place to play, especially a setting as cool
as on the river in Red Bank.
Being in Asbury, and now being as involved as I am in the trials and
tribulations of Asbury Park, when I go to Red Bank and see the amazing
growth and prosperity of that city, topped off with a music festival
that is 100% 1st class, it is almost embarrassing to be from AP and all
the seedy disorder that thrives in that decayed and corrupt haven of
miscreants and thieves.
Red Bank and Long Branch were always 2nd class cities when we were still
in school 'back in the day". These days, Asbury is so far behind those 2
towns that a tsunami like event that washes away the filth might be the
best thing that could happen to AP!
