I can't remember if I first met Keith in fifth grade or seventh grade. While we were never close our paths did cross off and on throughout high school. I particularly remember a stretch of time, think it was sophomore year, when we regularly played chess (badly) at my house after school in the afternoon while listening to Abraxas repeatedly, and occasionally taking time out to feed my snake. After graduation I only saw him once, at the 20th Reunion. It was obvious from our brief encounter that he loved Hawaii, and Kauai in particular.
Marvin: Thanks for posting all of the helpful websites and as always the pithy quotes. On the subject of All Along the Watchtower, I had my daughter compile a CD for me consisting of nothing but various versions of that one song, from Dylan's original, to the classic Hendrix, to Dave Mathews, to a female band whose name I cannot now recall. I think I have more than a dozen covers, but we had to cut several more as there was no more room on the CD.
***********************************************
No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manner of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me....
John Donne

John W, thanks for posting Keith's obit, the part about the rainbows was particularly wonderful. Thanks also to everybody for sharing, and especially Tim for setting up the Milestones page and Clark for adding to the Reunion page (great pictures, Keith sure had a wonderful eye). If the rest of you get a chance check in at Milestones please share your memories of Keith. Or do it right here. I have to admit I didn't know Keith, probably because I didn't get to Ocean Twp until 10th grade, but he still kinda feels like family. I think you all probably understand what I mean.

On a different note - or perhaps everything IS actually interconnected, the Asbury Park webcam is back online at:

I had the site open last summer and (true story) somebody came by my desk, looked at Convention Hall and asked if it was a picture of one of Saddam's palaces in Iran. Hah! Now I can't help but think about that every time I go to the site. - Well, that and being right there with Clark and Dennis on Easter Sunday 2005.
I heard on the radio that gas will probably get up to $4/gal before too long. Anyway, enter your zip code in the site below, and it tells you which gas stations have the cheapest prices (and the highest) in the area of that zip code - it's updated every evening:

For those of you who keep track of such things, I'll be punching in at 51 on the dial, the 20th of this month. I know, I know - Tim is still 50.

PS/ My movie buddy came up with two free passes to a sneak preview of Mission Impossible III Thursday night. Too bad I don't write copy for Master Card ads - mine would go something like this:
Gas to drive to and from the theater
- a few bucks
Popcorn and a soda
- $7
Seeing MI:3 for free and knowing Crazy Tom isn't getting a single cent of my money
- Priceless

"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,
"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late."
Bob Dylan - All Along the Watchtower
