Module 1 - Introduction

Summary

This is an introductory chapter and will provide a brief history of Unix and how the operating system came into being. This module will also explore the origins of publically funded software , focusing on how that helped make way for oprn source software.

Outcomes

By understanding the history of the Unix Operating System, students will gain an understanding of how the development of open source software progressed and how that development resulted in the freely available source files to the BSD version of Unix.
